Chronology of cameras Kodak

Determining accurately the model of a 3 FPK is very difficult, because the series was a huge success and it was manufactured in numerous variations.

The No. 3 is a pretty big folder that impresses with its volume, even if it is smaller than a No. 3A. It is fully covered with coarse grained leather, including the inside of the bed. The housing is made of wood, but the back and the seat are made of metal.
The deployment and positioning of the bellows is done manually by pulling the part that is at the base of the lens/shutter block.
It has a bright viewfinder with is a spirit level attached. The viewfinder is protected by a cover which also serves as sun visor. The top lens of the viewfinder can be raised in order to clean the mirror.
On the bed, there are two stands. The primary is outside thereof and allows for vertical framing. A second, much shorter, is located inside and allows for horizontal framing.
Right next to this stand is positioned a very unusual index of distances. It is presented as a parallelepiped traversed along its length by a rotary axis. On this axis are several pins, offset from each other. Turning the axis, one of the pins is protruding from the parallelepiped through slits, each of which corresponds to a distance. The lens supporting piece comes into abutment against the pin which protrudes.
This index is typical of the G version, but having the autographic window (and stylus) on the back makes it a model H.

There is a rise and fall capability. If the first is fairly easy to find, the second requires a finger behind the lens plate and unlocking a lever completely invisible from the front.

It is noted that the shutter has an air brake and can be activated pneumatically, in addition to the trigger by the lever on the front.
